Pokemon Go Disables Trading Due To Lucky Status Bug

Trading in Pokemon Go has been disabled after an error was seen by players last night. The bug in question is an accidental exploit where the luck situation does not stop after a single trade as it is supposed to.

Lucky Pokemon has higher stats and is easier to level up, and you can get them by trading with Lucky Friend. They are in high demand among the most competitive Pokemon Go players, but two of them have managed to trade 100 times in a row without stopping status (thanks, Eurogamer). This has given them a bunch of enhanced ‘mons’ which obviously upset the game’s balance. So while developer Niantic is investigating the issue, he has disabled trading to avoid anyone else degrading the Lucky’mons group.

Today I traded 100 Pokemon with a friend, and they are All Turned into Lucky,” she reported on a Reddit post. Shared with TheSilphRoad, “Pokemon Go’s largest popular network,” a place to trade mons. The poster continued, “Further clarification: We were both Lucky Friends when we started and we still are.” The status of lucky friends has not disappeared, and every deal has turned into a lucky trade.”

“Trainers, trading is currently unavailable as we are investigating an issue,” Niantic Support said on Twitter. “We’re sorry for the inconvenience and will continue to update here. Thank you for your patience.”

Trading was disrupted yesterday at midnight GMT and is not operational yet. There is no word on when we can expect trading to be available again, which led to some backlash on the original poster to which they replied: “I posted it because I thought it was interesting and others could try if it worked for them too” , said And Cream on Reddit. “It’s a Niantic, and they usually need two years to respond if you report a bug, so I’m as surprised as anyone else about how quickly they react.

“Looks like it was something very special that happened as in the comments here, only one person reported the same thing,” & Karim continued. “When they closed trading yesterday and everything exploded, I couldn’t sleep for it hours Because I was browsing Twitter, Reddit, and Facebook to see what was going on.”
